I am a medical doctor who has spent my career at the meeting point of surgery and international patient care. Since co-founding Smile Hair Clinic with Dr. Gökay Bilgin in 2018, my work has centred on one thing, planning and performing hair transplants that still look natural decades later.

Who Is Dr. Mehmet Erdoğan?
When Norway’s newspaper Aftenposten came to Istanbul, I talked them through how we plan a hair transplant, the techniques we use and why every patient’s plan is built around their own donor area.

My story
From Emergency Medicine to Hair Restoration
I graduated from Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine and later completed a degree in Healthcare Services Management at Anadolu University. My first post as a doctor was in the emergency department of Beykoz Paşabahçe State Hospital, where I served as chief physician.
At Medicana Health Group, I worked as a physician and deputy chief physician before directing the international patient centre and then the international patients group. Those years gave me deep experience in caring for patients who travel for treatment, from the first message to the last follow-up. In 2018, together with Dr. Gökay Bilgin, I founded Smile Hair Clinic, which today is the only hair transplant clinic in Turkey and in the world with TEMOS A-Rating accreditation.

How I work
What Guides Every Operation I Plan?
Four principles shape every consultation and every operation, whatever the size of the plan.
The plan comes before the price
The right number of grafts depends on your donor area, your pattern of hair loss and your long-term goals, so the plan is decided first and the price never changes it.
Doctors in every operation
Hairline design, graft extraction planning and channel opening are medical decisions. At our clinic, each doctor operates on no more than two patients a day.
A donor area that lasts a lifetime
The back of the head is a limited reserve. I take grafts so that the donor area stays even, and so that there is enough left if hair loss continues later.
A hairline for the next 30 years
A good hairline suits the face today and still looks natural at 50 or 60. Proportion and the golden ratio guide how I draw it.
